Title III Demystifying Reading Instruction for Middle/High School Teachers

with Maria Ortiz-Smith

November 19, 2019
8:30 am - 2:30 pm

at the Southwest Plains Conference Center
810 W. Lark Avenue, Sublette

Helping struggling readers in Middle and High School takes a team effort. Students’ improvement depends on all teachers’ ability to recognize the coping behaviors of students who read below level and know how to respond. Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) also need their teachers to be confident reading teachers regardless of their content areas. This workshop will demystify the process of learning to read and give you foundational tools and resources to use in any content.

Participants will practice new knowledge by analyzing sample student narratives to develop instructional goals and plan for classroom support.
