Carol is currently the Assistant Director of Instructional Services for SWPRSC. She was a classroom teacher for over 27 years. In addition, she was an adjunct and outreach instructor for the Garden City Community College English department for several years.
She has given state and national presentations including how to write rubrics, how to include special needs students in a regular classroom, and how to use student-led conferences to enhance student learning.
In 1999, Carol achieved National Board Certification.
Being a 2001 Regional Finalist for the Kansas Teacher of the Year gave her a unique opportunity to visit the schools of all 7 of the other regional finalists. Visits included the smallest public school in Lawrence, and Wichita East, whose student body is larger than the population of Carol's hometown.
Serving on KNEA's Instructional Advocacy Commission for 6 years, on the KSDE's Regulations Committee, and on QPA Advisory has expanded her knowledge of the issues facing educators in Kansas.
Carol earned her Bachelor's degree from Kansas State University in English Education and her Master's degree from Lesley College in Curriculum Development.
Carol was awarded the Kansas Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development 2007 Outstanding Service Center Educator award.
