Consultant Information for

Dev Bernbeck 

Dev has been an athletic coach and physical education educator since beginning his career in Scandia, KS in 1977.  In addition, he taught health and administered and improved district's total physical education curriculum and implemented positive changes to the overall district physical education program.

In 1989, he earned his Masters Degree in Health and Human Performance with an emphasis in Exercise Science from Fort Hays State University.

Dev joined SWPRSC in 2003 as an educational consultant, taking on the responsibility of coordinating the $1.5 million Carol M. White Physical Education Grant.  Dev's physical education experience coupled with his extensive knowledge of exercise science made him well equipped to serve Southwest Kansas schools, using the grant to expand their physical education programs with new techniques and provided trainers to show how to incorporate better programs into their curriculum.

Dev is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning and is affiliated with numerous national physical education groups.

A few of Dev's accomplishments include:

  • Awarded the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Award in 1997
  • Organized, devised and conducted curriculum and program training seminars
  • Researched and implemented program facets in improving student fitness
  • Designed and equipped new strength and conditioning facility
  • Implemented district-wide testing and maintained database of student performance in power and agility coordinators
  • Developed and trained all student athletes in advanced methods of development using research methods of the highest validity and reliability
