ESL/Migrant: Title III ESL Parent Notification Letters

Title III ESL Parent Notification Letters

Letters for Download and Use

Title III legislation requires that parents be notified within 30 days of the beginning of school that their children qualify for ESL services; if a new student enrolls during the year, notification must take place within two weeks.  This legislation is explicit about what needs to be contained in this notification: how students were identified for ESL services, what kind of services will be provided to the student, how services will coordinate with Special Education (if applicable), the exit criteria for the ESL program, notification of monitoring, and that parents have the right to decline ESL services for their children.

Feel free to download and utilize the following letters for your parent notification needs.  The parent notification letters are provided in both English and Spanish.  Each sentence is numbered, and the numbers correspond between the two language formats.  Just choose the sentences in the English versions that meet the needs of your student and program, fill in the appropriate district information, then choose the corresponding numbers in the Spanish version.  Delete anything that does not apply (as well as the numbers), and you're ready to go!
